[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강원경찰청에서는 봄철을 맞아 기온상승으로 야외활동 증가 및 개인형 이동장치(PM) 공유서비스 확대로 인해 이용자가 증가하면서 PM 교통사고가 우려됨에 따라 내달 말(5. 31.)까지 PM 법규위반행위에 대해 특별단속을 펼칠 예정이라고 밝혔다.

최근 2년간 도내 PM 교통사고는 ’20년 13건에서 ’21년도 26건으로 2배로 증가했고, 올해 4월 현재까지 6건 발생했다고 전했다.

이에 경찰에서는 주로 젊은 층이 이용하는 공원, 대학가 등 도심권 중심으로 ‘안전모 미착용’, ‘인도 주행’ 등 교통법규 위반행위*에 대하여 집중단속을 추진할 방침이라고 했다.

또한, 무분별하게 도로변에 PM이 방치되어 보행자 통행을 방해하고 도로 미관을 저해하는 문제에 대하여는 지자체와 협의, 주차공간 조성 및 불법 주·정차 견인조례를 개정하는 방안을 추진한다고 했다.

강원경찰청 관계자는 PM 이용자들이 자신의 안전을 위해 반드시 교통법규를 지키고 다른 사람에게 불편을 끼치지 않도록 정해진 곳에 주차하는 등 안전과 배려 있는 PM 이용을 당부했다.
