[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월 18일 양주시 회천4동은 지역사회보장협의체와 함께 관내 초등학교 5개교에 아동도서를 기증하는 ‘아동지킴이’사업을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

‘아동지킴이’사업은 2021년 회천4동 마을복지 지원사업의 일환으로 당초 천보초등학교를 시범으로 맞벌이 가정 학생들을 대상으로 방과 후 돌봄교실을 진행하는 사업이었으나 코로나19로 방역수칙 준수를 위해 아동도서를 구입·기증하는 것으로 변경해 추진했다고 전했다.

사업 대상학교는 회천4동 내 옥빛초등학교, 옥정초등학교, 율빛초등학교, 율정초등학교, 천보초등학교로 학교별 50만원 상당의 아동도서를 기증했다고 했다.

최귀숙 공동위원장은 “코로나19로 인해 아이들과 함께하는 사업을 다 하지 못해 무척 아쉽지만 이번에 기증하는 도서가 아이들의 건전한 성장에 보탬이 될 수 있으면 좋겠다”고 전했다.

이창열 회천4동장은 “이번 사업이 학생들에게 마음의 양식을 든든하게 쌓고 생각과 꿈을 키울 수 있는 동기부여가 되고 발전의 초석이 되기를 진심으로 기원한다”고 말했다.
