[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12일 소초면 새마을지도자협의회와 새마을부녀회는 소초면 수암리 일원 유휴지에서 회원 20여 명과 함께 모판 1,400여 개에 대한 파종 작업을 실시했다고 밝혔다. 

이번에 실시한 ‘파종 작업’은 벼농사를 위한 첫 번째 작업으로 파종기를 이용하여 모판에 상토와 볍씨를 담는 작업이다. 추후 못자리 작업과 모내기 작업도 진행할 예정이라고 했다.

최석우 새마을지도자협의회장과 최두남 새마을부녀회장은 “농사 등 개인의 생업으로 바쁜 시기에도 불구하고 참여해 주신 회원들께 감사드리며, 올해도 새마을 정신을 적극 실천해 뜻깊은 나눔을 실천하는 새마을회가 되도록 하겠다.”라고 말했다. 

소초면 새마을회는 매년 수확한 쌀을 판매한 수익금을 저소득층 등 관내 어려운 이웃에게 기부하고 있다고 전했다.
