[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 정선군은 교통사고 예방 및 교통환경 개선을 위해 국도59호선 정선3교 개통과 연계해 정선역 광장 앞 회전교차로 설치사업을 완료하고 전면 개통했다고 밝혔다.

정선군에서 추진한 정선역 앞 회전교차로 조성은 진출입로를 포함하여 총 126m 구간에 2차로 폭 9.5m의 회전차로로 토목 및 전기공사 등에 총 5억원의 사업비가 투자되었다.

장만준 도시과장은 "정선3교와 함께 회전교차로가 함께 전면 개통되어 지역주민 및 여름철 관광성수기 내방객들에게 안전하고 편리한 교통환경을 제공할 수 있게 되었다" 며, "앞으로도 군민의 정주여건 개선과 경쟁력 있고 지속발전가능한 도시공간 조성을 위해 다양한 시책발굴 등을 위해 적극 노력해 나가겠다"고 말했다.

한편 원주지방국토관리청에서 추진한 정선3교 개설공사는 정선읍 시가지 교통 분산을 통한 원활한 차량통행 및 교통안전 확보를 위하여 지난 2018년부터 추진하여 왔으며, 지난 7월 6일 개통했다.
