코로나19 유행 상황을 고려해 서면으로 진행된 이번 협약에 따라 원주시는 카드 발급 대상자 선정 및 시스템에 대한 총괄관리 등을 맡고 신한카드는 카드 제작 및 공급, 시스템 개발 등을 하게 된다. 

이번 협약에 이어 다음 주에는 시중 5개 카드사와 신용·체크카드 충전에 관한 업무협약을 체결할 예정이다.

앞서 지난 1일 전담 TF팀을 구성해 운영에 들어간 원주시는 오는 10월 모바일 지역사랑상품권, 신용·체크카드 포인트, 선불카드 등의 형태로 전 시민 대상 제3차 원주시 긴급재난지원금을 지급할 계획이다. 

원강수 원주시장은 “코로나19 장기화로 힘든 시기에 최근 집중호우 피해까지 겹쳐 매우 안타까운 심정”이라며, “시민들의 생활 안정과 지역경제 살리기에 도움이 될 수 있도록 재난지원금 지급을 차질 없이 준비해 나가겠다.”라고 말했다.
