[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 13일 화천군은 새로운 소득작물 재배기술 확보를 위해 상서면 군농업기술센터 인근에 과학영농 실증시험포를 조성해 운영에 들어간다고 밝혔다. 

지역 농업인들의 소득증가와 지역 기후에 알맞은 신소득 작물을 개발하기 위해  총 사업비 16억원이 투입된 실증 시험포는 부지 6,000㎡ 규모에 스마트팜 설비를 갖춘 자동화 하우스 1,400㎡, 노지포장 600㎡, 교육장 42㎡ 등을 갖추고 있다. 

군은 이 시설을 통해 그간 화천에서 재배할 수 없었던 아열대 작물은 물론 기후변화에 대비한 다양한 과수 등의 실증 재배에 착수할 예정이며 자동화 연동 하우스 내 토마토 양약재배 설비가 들어서고, 바나나와 커피나무, 파인애플, 백향과, 파파야 등의 열대작물이 식재되며 체리와 한라봉, 감, 사과대추 등의 과수작물 재배시험이 진행된다. 

일반 노지포장에서는 곰취와 명이, 참당귀, 백작약 등 산채와 약초 8종 재개시험이 진행되며  할미꽃과 금낭화, 백두산 금매화, 스피아 민트, 애플민트 등 야생화와 허브의 시험재배가 이뤄질 전망이다. 

최문순 화천군수는 “온난한 기후로 매년 작물과 과수의 재배 한계선이 북상하고 있어 새로운 작물 재배가 필요한 시점”이라며 “노동력 부족을 해결하고, 미래농업 개척을 위해 지역 농업인 대상 스마트 팜 교육도 확대하겠다”고 말했다.
