[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주시는 시민의 물 복지 향상을 위해 물관리 전문기관인 한국수자원공사(K-water)와 위·수탁 협약을 체결, 2020년부터 총사업비 396억 원(국비 198억)이 투입된 지방상수도 현대화사업을 시행하고 있다고 밝혔다.

원주시는 이번 사업으로 노후 상수도관 교체, 원주시 전 지역 상수도 관망 블록시스템을 구축해 현재 약 75%인 유수율을 2024년까지 85%로 끌어올릴 계획이라고 전했다.

유수율은 정수장에서 생산해 공급한 총 수량(생산량)과 요금으로 받아들여진 수량(유수수량)의 비율을 백분율로 나타낸 것으로, 이 수치가 높을수록 누수된 수돗물이 적다는 것이라고 했다.

현재 사업 공정률은 23%이며, 2024년 본 사업이 완료되면 매년 발생하는 누수·적수 등 수도사고를 예방하고, 원격감시시스템을 통해 실시간 수도사용량 측정, 물 낭비 방지, 투명한 요금 부과로 상수도 행정의 신뢰성도 제고될 것으로 기대된다고 했다.

원주시는 올해 노후 상수관로 교체공사를 본격적으로 시행함에 따라 태장동과 봉산동 일부 지역에서 단수와 교통 통제가 있을 수 있다며 시민들의 양해와 적극적인 협조를 당부했다.
