이번 무료개방은 코로나-19 장기화에 따라 침체된 전통시장 경제를 활성화하고, 제수용품 구매를 위해 못골시장, 지동시장 등 인근 9개 시장에 방문하는 고객의 편의를 증진하고자 시행된다고 했다.

한편, GH는 침체된 전통시장 경제를 활성화하고자 올해 6월까지 주차요금을 1시간까지 무료로 운영하고 있으며, 주차타워 내 상가 임대료를 30% 감면하고 있다고 전했다.

수원팔달주차타워는 전통시장 주변 주차난 해소를 위해 지난 2004년 200억원의 사업비를 투입해 GH가 건립했고, 주차서비스 품질 향상을 위해 지역화폐 리더기와 LED등을 설치하여 시설을 현대화했으며, 안면인식 발열체크기를 구비해 코로나-19 감염예방에 만전을 기하고 있다고 전했다.
