[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시보건소에서는 부산 지역에서 일본뇌염 매개모기인 작은빨간집모기가 전체 모기 중 90.4%로 확인돼 질병관리청에서 지난 23일 전국에 일본뇌염 경보를 발령했다고 밝혔다.

일본뇌염 매개모기인 작은빨간집모기는 주로 논이나 동물축사, 웅덩이 등에 서식하는 암갈색의 소형 모기로 야간에 흡혈 활동을 하며, 7월~9월 발생 밀도가 높아져 오는 10월 말까지 관찰된다.

시 보건소는 일본뇌염 경보가 발령되면, 일본뇌염 바이러스에 노출될 가능성이 높기 때문에, 모기에 물리지 않도록 각별히 주의하고 적기 예방접종을 시행해야 한다고 당부했다.

매개모기에 물릴 경우 대부분 무증상이지만 250명 중 1명(0.4%) 정도에 임상 증상이 나타나며, 이중 사망률이 약 30% 정도에 이르고 회복되어도 약 30~50%는 신경계 합병증이 남을 수 있다. 

보건소 관계자는 “일본뇌염을 예방하려면, 야외에 나갈 때 밝은색 옷을 입어 모기가 붙었을 때 눈에 잘 띄게 하고, 긴바지와 긴 소매의 옷을 입어 피부 노출 최소화하는 것이 좋다”면서 "모기기피제 사용, 모기를 유인할 수 있는 진한 향수나 화장품 사용자제, 방충망 점검 등 방제요령을 준수해 줄 것"을 당부하였다.
