이번 사업은 위탁사업자가 선발한 공사업체를 통해 진행됐으며, 시는 총 9천만을 투입해 시범사업 대상인 남면하수처리장, 남면하수처리장, 분뇨처리장 총 3개동 석면 자재를 철거하고 무석면 텍스시공 공사를 마쳤고, 시 소유 공공건축물 전체 동 석면자재를 전수처리 할 예정이다.

강수현 양주시장은 “본 사업이 양주시민의 쾌적하고 안전한 생활환경 구축에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대한다”며 “공공석면건축물의 잔존하는 석면자재의 조속한 처리를 통해 양주시의 공공기관을 이용하는 시민에게 석면으로부터 쾌적하고 안전한 공공기관 이용환경을 제공할 것이다”고 말했다.
