[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 의정부시는 녹색환경 조성 및 시민들의 취미 여가생활을 위하여 도시농업 교육 활성화에 적극 노력하고 있으며, 특히 최근 코로나19 감염병 사태로 어느 때보다 도시농업에 관한 관심이 높아진 지금 농업과 관련된 새로운 배움의 기회를 제공하고 자연과 함께하는 체험활동을 돕기 위해 다양한 도시농업 교육 사업을 운영하고 있다고 밝혔다.

의정부시는 도시농업 활성화를 위해 지난 4월부터 11월까지 그린도시농업대학을 운영했으며, 지속되는 코로나19 상황에도 사회적 거리두기 지침에 따라 대면 강의와 비대면 강의를 병행하며 꾸준히 이어져 온 그린도시농업대학은 올해 도시유기농부반, 약초와허브반, 도시농업관리사반 3개 과정으로 운영됐다고 했다.

2007년부터 1,000여명의 졸업생을 배출한 그린도시농업대학은 도시농업에 관련된 지식과 기술을 배울 수 있고, 직접 텃밭을 일구면서 농업의 즐거움과 성취감을 느낄 수 있는 사업이며, 1년간 운영되는 교육을 통하여 텃밭 기초 교육 수강부터 전문자격증 취득의 기회까지 얻을 수 있고, 도시 생활 속 여가활동으로서 농사에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 향후 더욱 다양한 교육과정이 추가될 예정이라고 했다.

의정부시민의 건강한 식생활을 위한 슬로푸드 교육은 우리 농산물과 식재료를 이용한 느린 음식 중심의 요리 교육과정으로 전통주와 식초, 맛있는 집밥, 김치와 장아찌, 쌀베이킹 등 매년 색다른 과정으로 진행하여 많은 호응을 얻었다고 전했다.
