[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 내년 1월 30일까지 양주시립장욱진미술관은 오는 연말연시 기획전 ‘꽃이 웃고, 작작 鵲鵲 새가 노래하고’ 展을 개최한다고 밝혔다.

이번 전시는 자연, 인간, 동식물이 공존하는 장욱진의 예술세계를 생태학자 최재천 교수와 함께 생태적 관점에서 조망하고자 기획했으며, 전시명 ‘꽃이 웃고, 작작 鵲鵲 새가 노래하고’는 장욱진 수필집 ‘강가의 아틀리에’의 한 구절로 “꽃이 웃고, 작작 鵲鵲 새가 노래하고 봄비가 내리는 그런 곳에 참 부처의 모습이 있는 것일까. 그림도 그런 것일까. 작작 鵲鵲”의 구절을 인용한 것이라고 했다.

전시명에서 드러나듯 세상 만물이 조화를 이루는 세상을 꿈꾸고 작품에 담고자 했던 장욱진의 세계관을 엿볼 수 있으며, 특히 그와 같이 평생 애정 어린 시선으로 자연을 담고, 강인한 생명력을 주목해 온 김병종, 김보희, 민병헌, 정현의 작품을 함께 배치해 그 의미를 더했다고 전했다.

기획전에서는 자연, 동물, 사람이 공존하는 세상을 담은 장욱진의 작품 ‘가족’(1954), ‘어부’(1968), ‘초당’(1975), ‘가로수’(1987), ‘집’(1989) 등 평소 쉽게 접할 수 없었던 작품을 선보이고, 또한 김병종의 ‘생명의 노래-숲은 잠들지 않는다’(2003), 제주 풍경을 담은 김보희의 ‘Jeju’(2001), ‘Towards’(2021), 젤라틴 실버 프린트 작업을 고수하는 민병헌의 ‘Snow Land’(2005), ‘남녘유람’ 시리즈(2020~2021), 인고의 시간을 보낸 침목으로 작업을 하는 정현의 ‘서 있는 사람’(2001~2021) 등을 만나볼 수 있다고 했다.

미술관 관계자는 “우리에게 닥친 팬데믹 위기는 무너진 생태계로 인해 발생한 것으로 우리가 긴밀하게 관계하고 있음을 경험하고 확인하는 시간이 됐다”며 “이번 전시를 통해 자연의 경이로움과 아름다움을 발견하는 한편, 자연을 목적의 대상으로만 바라보고 있었던 삶의 방식과 태도를 돌아볼 수 있는 기회를 가져보는 시간이 되길 바란다.”고 말했다.
