[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 11월 30일 오후, 평창군은 한왕기 평창군수를 비롯한 지역기관 단체장 및 마을주민 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 봉평생활체육공원 준공식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.

봉평생활체육공원은 지난 2018년부터 총사업비 9,950백만 원을 투입하여 28,000㎡ 규모로 축구장 1면, 족구장 1면, 풋살장 1면 등의 시설을 갖췄고, 앞으로 봉평생활체육공원은 평창군 지역주민들의 생활체육을 통한 여가생활, 건강 증진뿐 아니라 효석문화제와 연계한 다양한 공간 활용으로 지역의 문화·체육 인프라로 자리매김할 예정이라고 했다. 

한왕기 평창군수는 “봉평생활체육공원 준공으로 그동안 코로나19로 인한 외부 활동에 어려움이 많았던 지역주민분들이 위드코로나 시행과 함께 다양한 체육활동을 통해 심신의 피로를 풀어주고, 행복한 여가 시간을 보낼 수 있는 계기가 되길 기대한다.”고 말했다. 

한편, 군은 봉평생활체육공원 내 근린생활형 소규모 체육관 건립을 추진하고 있으며, 지역주민의 생활체육 활성화를 위해 아낌없는 지원을 계속할 방침이라고 전했다.
