[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양양군이 일본 자매결연도시 아오모리현 롯카쇼촌과 돗토리현 다이센정에 양양군수 명의의 서한문을 발송했다고 밝혔다.

지난 12일 김진하 양양군수는 코로나19의 긴 터널을 이겨내는 정․촌민들의 마음을 위로하는 마음을 담아 다이센정 다케구치 히로노리 정장과 아오모리현 롯카쇼촌 도다 마모루 촌장에게 서한을 보냈다고 전했다.

김군수는 서한문을 통해 "코로나 팬데믹 위기로 미래를 예측하기 어려운 상황이 장기간 지속되고 있는 힘든 상황에 행정을 이끄시느라 수고가 많다“며 ”현재는  코로나19로 교류활동에 많은 제약이 있지만, 향후 더욱 긴밀한 협력관계를 구축하고 다양한 분야로 교류를 확대해 국제적인 도시로 발전할 수 있도록 노력하자“고 말했다.

아울러, 다시 보자는 약속이 이렇게 오래 걸릴 줄은 몰랐다는 안타까운 마음과 함께 이 상황을 슬기롭게 극복하고 하루 빨리 뵙기를 희망한다는 메시지를 서한문에 담아 발송했다고 밝혔다.

자매결연도시인 일본 롯카쇼촌은 1998년 양양군과 자매결연을 맺었으며, 그동안 양 도시 간 축전행사 상호 방문, 민간교류, 정책교류 등 활발한 교류활동을 이어왔으며, 특히 미래의 주역이 될 청소년들에게 글로벌 마인드를 제공하고, 국외 자매결연도시와의 유대를 강화하기 위해 교류초기부터 청소년 교류사업도 추진해오고 있다고 했다.  

또 다이센정과는 2001년 자매결연을 체결하고, 그 후 축제 상호방문, 청소년 문화탐방 등 상호 우호관계를 돈독히 하면서 다양한 교류를 이어오고 있다고 했다.
