현행법에 따르면 원산지표시 위반 시 거짓표시는 7년 이하의 징역 또는 1억 원 이하의 벌금이 부과되며, 미표시의 경우 최소 5만 원에서 최대 1천만 원 이하까지 부과되고, 또한 원산지 거짓표시 및 미표시 2회 이상 위반 업체는 업체명과 위반사항 등을 해양수산부 누리집을 통해 1년간 공표하게 된다고 전했다.

포천시 관계자는 “원산지를 위반한 식재료가 시민들의 식탁에 오르지 않도록 선발된 원산지표시 관리 명예감시원이 연중 계도 및 단속을 강화하겠다.”라고 말했다.
