[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12월 18일 의정부시청소년재단 새말청소년문화의집에서는 관내 소외계층 아동 20명의 가정에 직접 방문하여 산타이벤트와 선물을 전달하는 봉사활동 ‘크리스마스의 선물’을 진행했다고 밝혔다.

크리스마스를 맞아 4년째 이어지고 있는 이 봉사활동은 추운 겨울, 청소년들이 지역사회를 돌아보고 이웃과 더불어 살아가는 따뜻한 삶을 경험할 수 있도록 운영되고 있다고 했다.

새말청소년문화의집 봉사동아리 나·도·람 청소년 7명과 드림스타트 키다리 봉사단 7명이 함께 기관에 모여 직접 아이들을 위한 선물과 이벤트를 준비했고, 팀을 나누어 아이들의 집을 찾아갔다고 했다.

눈이 유난히 많이 내린 날이었지만 산타복장을 한 봉사자들은 떨리는 마음으로 가정을 방문하여 선물을 전달했고, 기뻐하는 아이들과 함께 크리스마스를 행복한 추억으로 남겼다고 전했다.

봉사활동을 마친 후 참가 청소년들은 “오늘 행복해하는 아이들을 보면서 받는 것보다 주는 것이 더 귀하다는 것을 느꼈어요, 제가 선물을 줬지만 선물을 받은 느낌이에요”라는 소감을 남겼다.
