[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월 29일 새마을지도자 동두천시협의회에서는 동두천시 종합운동장에서 ‘3R 재활용품 수거’ 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사에는 동두천시 새마을 남녀지도자 30여명이 참석한 가운데 동두천시 최용덕 시장이 행사장소를 방문해 어려운 이웃을 위해 봉사하는 새마을회 회원들을 비롯한 관계자들을 격려하였고, 금번 행사에서 수거된 재활용품 30여톤은 재활용품 수거 전문 업체에 매각하여 수익금 전액을 연말 불우이웃돕기에 사용할 계획이라고 했다. 

김석훈 시협의회장은 “연일 계속되는 코로나19로 힘든 시기임에도 불구하고 많은 회원들이 적극 실천하여 주심에 감사를 드리며, 탄소중립 실천을 위해 새마을지도자만이 아니라 전시민이 참여할 수 있는 시민운동으로 행사를 지속적으로 실시하겠다”고 밝혔다.

또한 격려차 참석한 윤광회 동두천시 새마을회장은 “탄소 저감운동 실천에 앞장서 봉사 활동에 여념이 없는 새마을지도자들에게 감사드리며 새마을 지회에서도 탄소를 저감할 수 있는 방안을 적극 발굴하여 탄소 저감 실천에 앞장 서겠다”고 말했다.
