[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 20일 동두천시 최용덕 시장은 추석명절을 맞이하여 큰시장 및 세아프라자, 중앙시장 등 전통시장을 찾아 상인들을 격려했다고 밝혔다. 

코로나19로 소비심리가 위축된 상황에서 상인들을 만나 현장의 이야기를 직접 듣고자 한 것이라고 했다. 

동두천시장은 “코로나19로 힘든 시기를 보내고 있는 전통시장 상인분들을 위해 전통시장을 활성화할 수 있는 방안을 강구하겠다”며 “시민들이 안전하고 즐겁게 장을 볼 수 있도록 방역에도 철저를 기하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 동두천시는 큰시장 및 중앙시장에 주1회 방역소독을 실시하였고, 마스크와 손소독제를 배부하는 등 방역활동을 지원하고 있으며 또한 매주 금요일을 외식의 날로 운영하여 시청 직원들이 전통시장과 관내 음식점을 자주 이용할 것을 장려하고 있다고 했다.
