이날 보고회에서 용역 수행을 맡은 현대정책연구원은 '중앙정부 정책 및 워리어플랫폼 등 방위산업 포함 중점산업 분석', '관련기업 입주의향 조사', '시 입지경쟁력 강화'를 위한 산업생태계 조성 전략 등의 용역계획안을 발표했고, 시는 이번 중간보고회 이후 사업시행사인 LH와 긴밀한 협의를 거쳐 지역 주민들과의 소통을 통해 연구보고서의 완성도를 높인다는 전략이라고 했다.

‘동두천 국가산업단지 산업생태계 조성 중장기 전략 수립 연구’용역은 동두천 국가산업단지 2단계 확대개발 사업의 중앙정부 산업정책 분석을 통한 특화업종 선정 및 기업투자 유치와 입주수요 창출을 위한 전략 수립을 위해 추진 중이라고 했다. 

최용덕 동두천시장은 “2단계 동두천 국가산업단지 사업이 미래발전 가능성 있는 특화된 산업단지로 조성되기 위해 현실감 있는 제안이 도출되어야 한다”며 “내실있는 비전이 제시될 수 있도록 심도있는 연구 추진을 당부한다”고 밝혔다. 

한편, 현재 1단계 동두천 국가산업단지는 한국토지주택공사에서 시공사 선정을 완료하여 오는 10월 착공된다고 했다.
