[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 4월 4일, 화천군은 4월부터 올해 12월까지 화천초교와 ‘2022 지역과 함께 하는 학교 연계사업’을 진행한다고 밝혔다. 

학교 연계사업은 공교육 기관인 학교 측이 자체적으로 체험이나 학습 프로그램 운영계획을 수립하면, 화천군이 이에 필요한 강사비, 재료비, 체험비, 차량 임차료 등을 지원하는 구조이며, 화천군은 지난 2018년부터 화천초등학교와 협약을 하고, 매년 연계사업을 이어오고 있다고 했다. 

연계사업에 필요한 지역 내 교육시설을 공동으로 사용하고, 학교와 지자체는 물론 유관기관과 각 가정까지 참여할 수 있다는 점에서 새로운 지방 교육자치 모델로도 주목받고 있으며, 방과 후 학교 프로그램 뿐 아니라 정규수업에서도 연계사업이 진행된다는 점이 특징이라고 전했다. 

지난해의 경우 코딩교육을 비롯한 다양한 체험이나 강연 등 15개 프로그램에 연인원 462명의 어린 학생들이 참가했고, 올해도 화천군과 화천초교는 아이들이 학교는 물론 인근의 화천어린이도서관, 청소년수련관 등에서 다양한 경험을 쌓을 수 있는 기회를 제공할 계획이라고 했다. 

화천군은 화천초등학교 뿐 아니라 지역 초·중·고교 재학생들을 대상으로 단계별 학습코칭, 취업역량 강화교육, 미래로 아카데미, 고등학교 동아리 운영지원사업 등을 지속 운영할 계획이라고 전했다. 

화천군 관계자는 “학생 뿐 아니라 학부모들의 만족도도 매우 높은 편”이라며 “사업이 원활히 진행되도록 운영에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
