[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 2월 23일 오후 5시, 24일 오후6시 30분 이틀간, 홍천군은 군수집무실, K컨벤션 지역 내 2개 유관기관과 북한이탈주민 정착지원을 위한 업무 협약을 체결한다고 밝혔다.

협약에는 한서라이온스클럽과 (사)홍천다문화가정후원회가 참여하며, 홍천군은 각 기관의 전반적 협약이행 사안을 조율·총괄하고, 한서라이온스클럽은 집수리 및 구호물품 지원 등 긴급구호 가정 지원, 다문화가정후원회는 북한이탈주민 자녀 교육비 등을 지원한다고 전했다. 

홍천군은 이번 협약을 계기로 북한이탈주민 지원사업을 지자체에서 민간 단체로 확대 추진하여 지역통합을 도모하고 북한이탈주민의 조기 정착을 유도할 계획이라고 했다.

허필홍 홍천군수는 “이번 협약은 우리 사회에 힘들게 적응하고 있는 북한이탈주민들이 지역사회에 정착해 경제적인 안정을 이루는 소중한 계기가 될 것”이라고 말했다.

한편, 홍천군에 거주 중인 북한이탈주민은 2월 말 현재 37명이며, 30~40대 젊은층이 49%(18명), 여성 83%(31명)를 차지한다고 밝혔다.
