[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 평창장학회는 미국에 거주 중인 김필성 치의학 박사가 올해도 3백만 원의 장학금을 기탁하였다고 밝혔다.

김필성 치의학 박사는 극락사 신도였던 故이정민 여사의 자녀로 생전에 청소년을 사랑하고 봉사활동을 펼쳤던 어머님의 뜻을 이어받아, 극락사를 통해 장학금을 수여하다가 지난 2018년부터 평창장학회에도 장학금을 기탁하고 있으며 올해까지 1,500만 원의 장학금을 기탁하였다고 전했다. 

김필성 치의학 박사는 “어머님(故이정민 여사)께서 생전에 지역의 미래를 이끌어갈 학생들에게 남다른 애정을 가지고, 그들에게 꿈과 용기를 심어주기 위해 베풀었던 뜻을 이어가고자 한다.”며 “장학금이 필요한 학생들에게 잘 전달되길 바란다.”고 말했다.

평창장학회 관계자는 “코로나19로 어려운 시기에도 장학금을 기탁하겠다는 반갑고 감사한 연락을 받았다.”며, “해외에서도 5년째 꾸준히 장학금을 기탁하신 뜻을 헤아려 지역인재육성에 소중히 사용하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
