[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 6일, 맹호어린이집은 서울 문화비축기지에서 열린 ‘2021 탄소중립 경연대회 시상식’에서 환경부 장관상(장려)을 수상했다고 밝혔다.​

환경부가 주최하고 한국 기후·환경네트워크가 주관한 이번 경연대회는 이번 경연대회는 자원과 에너지 절약 및 효율적 이용으로 온실가스 감축에 기여하거나 탄소중립 문화 확산에 기여한 기관, 지자체, 기업, 민간단체를 대상으로 1차 신청을 받아 전체 109개 참가 팀 중 치열한 경쟁을 통해 예심을 통과한 20개 팀에 대해 2차 발표심사를 거쳐 최종 순위를 결정하였다고 했다. 

실천문화 확산을 위해 보육프로그램 ‘장난감 없는 교실’ 운영, '생활 절약을 통한 탄소중립 발자국 놀이', 재활용 용품의 올바른 분리수거의 실천과 의미를 되새기는 지역사회연계 프로그램 ‘두더지 가족을 지켜줘’, 에너지 시민연대 ‘불을 끄고 별을 켜다’, '유아대상 탄소중립 환경교육',  '교사대상 탄소중립 연구실적 보고' 등의 활동을 인정받아 수상의 영예를 안았다고 했다. 

상장, 상패, 탄소중립 현판과 함께 부상으로 주어지는 상금 50만원은 지난 11월 개최한 아나바다 열린 장터 행사에서 얻은 수익금과 함께 연말불우이웃돕기 성금으로 가평군에 기탁할 예정이라고 전했다. 

강현민 맹호어린이집 원장은 “앞으로도 원아들과 함께 탄소중립을 위한 창의적이고 체계적인 보육 프로그램을 개발하고 생활 실천 활동을 지속적으로 전개해 나가겠다“ 고 말했다.
