[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 온실가스 감축을 통한 친환경·저탄소 정책 실현과 공공시설 에너지자립을 위해 강릉실내종합체육관 태양광발전시설 설치공사를 추진한다고 밝혔다.

2022년 신재생에너지 확대기반조성사업으로 추진하는 이번 사업은 4억7천7백만 원을 투입하여 진행하며, 태양광발전시설 250㎾ 규모를 설치하여 강릉실내종합체육관 연간 전력사용량의 6% 이상의 절감효과를 예상하고 있다고 했다.

신재생에너지 확대기반조성사업은 2009년부터 2020년까지 공공시설 25개소에 태양광발전시설 23개소, 소수력발전 1개소, 태양열 1개소를 설치 및 운영하고 있으며, 관내 공공시설 전체 전력사용량의 18%를 신재생에너지 발전을 통해 보급하고 있다고 했다.

강릉시 관계자는“신재생에너지 확대 기반 조성사업을 통해 향후 공공시설 신재생에너지 보급률을 증가할 계획이며, 에너지 절약 및 기후 변화에 적극적으로 대처해나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
