보건복지부와 한국건강증진개발원이 개최한 이번 대회에서 평창군 보건의료원은 ICT를 기반으로 하는 의료취약지 의료지원 시범사업을 충실히 진행하여 보건의료발전 및 국민건강증진에 크게 기여한 점에서 호평을 받았다고 했다.

평창군보건의료원의 해당 사업은 의료취약지 주민의 의료접근성 개선 및 만성질환자의 건강관리 강화를 위해 ICT(정보통신기술)를 활용하여 의료서비스를 제공하는데, 만성질환관리사업의 경우 지역주민이 보건진료소에 내소하여 보건지소 의사와의 원격협진을 실시함으로써 보건의료서비스의 질을 크게 향상시켰다고 전했다.
