[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양양군과 양양문화재단은 매년 개최하였던 양양해맞이축제를 2022년에는 미개최하기로 결정했다고 밝혔다.

문화재단은 단계적 일상회복(위드 코로나) 분위기에 맞춰 해맞이축제를 준비하기로 검토하였으나, 최근 전국적인 코로나19 재확산에 따라 미개최 결정을 내렸다고 했다.

다만 올해와 같이 매년 새해 첫날 동해신묘(東海神廟)에서 진행되는 제례 봉행은 축소하여 진행할 계획이라고 전했다.

동해신묘는 국태민안과 풍농풍어를 기원하기 위해 고려시대부터 동해신에게 제사를 지낸 곳이며, 2000년 강원도기념물 제73호로 지정된 역사적인 장소라고 했다.

양양문화재단 김진하 이사장은 “지역 관광 및 경제와 연계되는 해맞이 축제인 만큼, 빠른 시일 내 개최 여부를 확정 짓기보다는 전국의 감염 추세 등을 종합적으로 살피면서 내린 결정이다.”라고 밝혔다.
