[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 오는 7월부터 동두천시 평생교육원 시립도서관에서는 어수정 작은도서관, 남산모루 작은도서관, 종합운동장 지혜의 등대 등 3개 작은도서관을 시민들이 커뮤니티 공간으로 활용할 수 있도록, 다양한 독서행사를 운영한다고 밝혔다.

원도심 활성화와 상패동 군인아파트 내 문화시설 조성을 위해 어수정 작은도서관과 남산모루 작은도서관을 2019년과 2020년 최신 트랜드에 맞게 북카페형 작은도서관을 개관했으나, 그간 코로나19 예방을 위해 부분적으로 운영되어 이용에 어려움이 있었고, 작은도서관 활성화를 위하여 부모교육, 편지쓰기, 야간 인문학 등 다양한 독서행사와 소회의실, 청년공간 교육장소, 디지털배움터로 작은도서관 내 시설을 개방하는 등 작은도서관이 시민들에게 도서관 기능뿐만 아니라, 커뮤니티 공간으로 활용될 수 있도록 적극적으로 운영할 예정이라고 말했다.

도서관 관계자는 “7월부터 운영될 독서행사에 시민 여러분의 많은 참여를 바라며, 9월 독서의 달에도 동두천시 지역작가 강연, 관내 공공도서관과 작은도서관 스탬프 도장 찍기 등 작은도서관의 활성화를 위한 다양한 행사를 계획 중에 있다”고 전했다.
