[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시 평생교육원 시립도서관은 어르신들의 사회적 일자리 창출과 초등학교 돌봄교실 아동의 독서활동 지원을 위한 '경기은빛독서나눔이' 사업을 지난 상반기에 이어 하반기에도 운영하고 있다고 밝혔다.

올해 상반기에 경기은빛독서나눔이 참여 어르신 7명은 초등학교 돌봄교실 5개교 14개반을 찾아가 주 2회, 230여 명의 어린이들에게 책 읽어주기와 함께 왕성한 독서활동을 펼쳐 돌봄교실 어린이들의 학습능력 향상과 1·3 세대간 이해증진의 계기를 마련하는 등 좋은 반응을 얻었다고 전했다. 

지난 9월 24일부터 시립도서관은 하반기에도 어린이들의 독서활동에 도움을 주기 위해 경기은빛독서나눔이 활동 어르신들을 대상으로 독서지도 보수교육을 실시하고 있다고 했다. 

장화자 평생교육원장은 “이번 사업을 통해 어르신들은 삶의 보람을, 어린이들은 할머니 선생님들과의 따뜻한 교감을 통해 정서적인 안정을 느끼기 바란다”며, “노인 독서전문가를 활용하여, 독서문화의 저변 확대를 기대한다”고 전했다.

도서관 관계자는 “코로나19 방역수칙을 준수하면서 운영된 경기은빛독서나눔이 사업을 통해 미래의 보배인 우리 어린이들이 책을 통해 도서관을 더욱 친근하게 느끼게 되는 기회가 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.
