[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 동두천시 평생교육원 시립도서관은 동두천에 살고 있는 지역 작가의 작품을 모아, 1층 전시공간에서 작가의 출간도서를 성황리에 전시하고 있다고 밝혔다.

이번 전시는 동두천에 거주하는 작가들의 창작력과 인지도를 높이고, 시민들에게 관내에 잘 알려지지 않은 작가들을 소개하여, 자랑스러운 작가에 대한 자긍심을 고취하는 계기를 마련하기 위해 진행됐다고 말했다.

도서관 관계자는 도서관을 이용하는 시민들이 도서관 입구를 들어서면, 복도에 전시된 지역작가의 작품을 바라보며, ‘동두천에도 이렇게 지역작가가 많았구나’라는 새로운 시선으로 동두천을 바라보고, 자랑스러워 한다고 시민들의 반응을 전했다.

이번 전시에는 이강석'내 운명을 바꾼 한글자(2017,멘토프레스)', 김개미'매우 혼자인 사람의 사람들의 일하기(2020,글항아리등)', 양지윤'(사서의 일(2021,책과 이음)', 김백상'(에셔의 손(2018, 허블)' 작가 등 21명의 지역작가의 작품이 전시됐고, 지역작가들마다 팬이 있어서 SNS를 통해 서로 연결되어 찾아오는 발길이 계속 이어지고 있으며, “지역의 작가들이 좋은 작품이 많이 쓰기를 기대하고 있다”고 팬들이 응원을 남기기도 했다.

도서관 관계자는 “앞으로도 9월 독서의 달 등에 지역작가를 알리는 행사를 진행할 예정이며, 전시회가 앞으로도 많이 남아 있으니, 많은 분들이 방문하길 바란다”고 전했다.
