[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월 7일 목요일부터 동두천시 평생교육원 시립도서관은 노인일자리를 위한 그림책 읽어주기 사업인 '노년에 찾은 작은 행복' 어르신 20명을 대상으로 역량강화 교육을 운영 중이라고 밝혔다.

지난 2008년부터 시작되어 어르신들의 왕성한 활동으로 올해 14년째 이어온 '노년에 찾은 작은 행복'은 올해 상반기 코로나19로 관내 기관 방문 활동 없이 어르신 20명을 10명씩 2개조로 나누어 역량강화 교육을 운영하였으며, 하반기에는 참여 어르신 모두 백신 접종을 완료하고 책 읽어주기 연습을 자체적으로 하며 방문 활동을 준비하였으나 코로나19 단계 강화로 방문 활동 없이 역량 강화 교육 및 자체 교육을 운영할 예정이라고 했다. 

참여 어르신 중 한 분은 “작년에 이어 올해도 코로나19로 어린이들을 만날 수 없어 무척 아쉽다”며 “향후 코로나19 완화로 어린이들을 만나게 될 시간을 대비하여 그림책 읽는 연습과 역량강화 교육에 열심히 참여하고 있다”고 말했다.

도서관 관계자는 “노년에 찾은 작은 행복 사업을 통해 지역사회의 은퇴하신 어르신들에게 사회참여 기회와 일자리를 제공하고 자신감을 회복할 수 있도록 하며 도서관을 통하여 이용자층 저변확대 및 프로그램 다양화에 기여하고자 한다”고  밝혔다.
