[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 5월 27일 의정부시 시장 안병용은 을지대학교와 양 기관의 상호발전과 우호협력 증진을 위한 상호협력 협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 

이날 체결식은 교육·의료·보건·행정·복지·관광, 지역사회 발전을 위한 유기적인 협력체계, 지역주민의 교육 기회 제공을 위한 평생교육 프로그램, 기타 양 기관의 발전과 우호 증진에 필요한 다양한 사업을 공동 추진하는 내용을 골자로 상호협력 협약을 체결했다고 했다.

특히 이날 체결식은 지난 3월 4일 공공기관과 교육기관의 통합체계 구축을 통한 평생교육 선진도시 의정부 만들기의 일환으로 개최된「교육 거버넌스 추진협의회」와 일맥상통 한다는 데 의미가 있다고 할 수 있다고 했다.

의정부시는 을지대(의정부)와의 협약 체결을 통해 광운대(서울), 대진대(포천), 신한대(의정부), 경민대(의정부), 경동대(양주)를 아우르는 경기북부지역의 주요한 대학과의 유기적인 교육 협업 체계를 공고히 하게 됨으로써 경기북부 교육중심도시로의 입지를 다질 수 있게 되었다고 전했다. 

안병용 의정부시장은 “이번 협약을 통하여 학생을 포함한 시민들의 고등교육에 대한 배움의 기회가 확대되어 의정부의 교육 수준을 한층 높일 수 있는 있을 것”이라며 “향후 다양한 교육 주체 간 긴밀한 협업이 이루어질 수 있도록 방안을 마련하여 협력해 나갔으면 한다.”라고 밝혔다.
