[김현우 기자 =경기북부 ] 가평군이 그동안  소아 진료 및 영유아 건강검진에 불편을 겪었던 부모들의 불편을 해소하기 위해 노력을 기울인 결과 소아진료 서비스가 가능하게 됐다.  

12일 가평군에 따르면 지난해 5월 관내 소아청소년과 폐업으로 인한 지역주민들의 불편해소를 위해 경기도에 지속적인 공중보건의 배치 시, 소아전문의를 요구해 관찰시켰다고 밝혔다.

이에 보건소에는 오는 19일부터 소아관련 전문성을 갖춘 공중보건의사가 배치돼 소아진료, 예방접종, 건강검진 등 다양한 소아진료 서비스가 제공된다.

소아과 진료는 월요일부터 금요일까지 오전에 실시되고 영유아 건강검진은 예약제로서 화요일과 목요일 오후에만 진행될 예정이다.

현재 가평군은 20년 동안 진료했던 소아청소년과 의원이 저출산 등의 이유로 지난해 문을 닫은 이후 소아청소년과 전문 병·의원이 하나도 남지 않은 상태였다.

앞서 군은 관내 우림약국이 올해 경기도 공공심야 약국으로 신청 선정해 야간시간대 약국을 찾아 인근지역으로 가는 불편을 해소해 나가고 있다.

군민들은 의료접근성이 취약한 심야시간대인 밤 10시부터 익일 새벽 1시까지 연중무휴로 의약품을 구매할 있게 돼 호응을 얻고 있으며, 약사의 복약지도와 전화상담 등을 통해 의약품의 오남용을 최소화하는 등 안전하고 편리한 공공보건 의료서비스를 제공받고 있다.

이와 함께 군은 사각지대에 놓인 지역 의료환경 개선을 위해 경기도의료원 가평병원(이하 가평병원) 유치를 내걸고 그 필요성 등을 적극 알리며 행정력을 집중하고 있는 상태다.

가평군은 종합병원이 전무한 상태로 병원 8개소 중, 7개소가 요양․정신건강․사회복지시설 입소자를 대상으로 한 병원이어서 의료서비스가 제한적이며 나머지 1개소도 설악면에 위치하고 있어 군민들의 접근이 쉽지 않다.

응급의료시설도 현재 설악면(병원급) 1개소 밖에 없어 대부분의 주민들은 인근 남양주, 구리, 의정부, 강원 춘천, 서울 등의 응급의료시설을 이용하는 등의 불편을 겪고 있다. 또한 산부인과, 산후조리원 등 임산부 등과 관련된 시설도 전무하다.

군 관계자는 “소아과 개설로 아이를 키우는 부모들에게 좋은 소식을 전할 수 있어 기쁘다”며 “앞으로 마음 놓고 아이를 키울 수 있는 육아 친화적 환경조성과 임산부․장애인․노인 등 의료취약계층이 양질의 공공의료서비스를 제공받을 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
