[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 13일 강릉시 보건소는 6·25전사자 유가족 유전자 시료채취 우수기관 국방부장관 감사장을 강릉시 보건소에서 받았다고 전했다.

유가족 유전자 시료채취는 전사자 유해를 찾지 못한 8촌 이내의 유가족을 대상으로 채혈 또는 타액의 유전자를 채취해 발굴된 유골의 신원 확인을 위해 실시한다.

이번 감사장은 유해 발굴 사업에 적극 참여한 기관을 대상으로 포상을 실시했으며, 유가족 시료채취 우수기관은 강릉시 보건소와 전주시 보건소가 선정됐다.

감사장 전달은 코로나로 인해 국방부 유해발굴감식단의 김영선 유가족관리과장이 강릉시 보건소를 방문해 전달했다.

강릉시 관계자는 “6·25전쟁으로 생사를 확인하지 못한 친인척이 있는 분들은 유전자 시료채취에 적극 협조를 부탁드리며, 강릉시도 전사자들이 가족의 품으로 돌아갈 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
