이날 총회는 평창군 최초 주민총회인 만큼 주민들의 의견을 보다 폭넓게 수용하고자 많은 주민들이 참석한 가운데 진행하고자 했으나, 코로나19 확진자 급증으로 인해 주민자치위원들을 주축으로 진행하기로 결정했고, 이번 주민총회는 주민자치회에서 발굴한 7가지 의제 중 주민투표를 가장 많이 차지한 발굴의제에 대해 우선순위를 발표하고, 주민자치회에서 2022년 사업목표를 보고하는 것으로 마무리했다고 전했다. 

7개의 분과별 의제에 대한 주민의견 수렴은 현장투표와 설문조사로 진행되었으며, 현장투표는 지난 5일과 10일에 열리는 전통시장과 시내 사거리, 평창고등학교 앞에서 진행되었으며, 설문조사는 지난 11월 이장회의를 통해 41개리에 배부된 설문조사를 바탕으로 결정되었다고 했다. 

평창읍 주민자치회 지영우 회장은 “평창읍 주민자치회가 아직 서툴고 부족하지만 우리 주민들이 주민자치회에 많은 관심을 갖고 격려해 준만큼, 주민총회를 주민에게 진심인 자세로 최선을 다하는 개최할 것을 약속하며, 주민총회가 잘 마무리 되고, 우리 주민들도 가정마다 2021년을 잘 마무리 했으면 좋겠다.”고 말했다.
