[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 10월 19일 김동근 의정부시장은 고산동 511-8번지 일원 도시취약지역 개조사업(새뜰마을)을 추진 중에 있는 빼벌마을을 방문해 전반적인 사업계획 및 현장 여건 등을 살펴보며 마을을 시찰했다고 밝혔다. 

빼벌마을은 한국전쟁 직후 미군이 주둔하면서 형성됐으나 지난 2018년 주력부대가 평택으로 이전하면서 기반시설 부족, 주택 노후 결과적으로 인구 지속 유출, 다수의 사회적 약자의 거주로 시급히 정비가 필요한 지역이다.

의정부시는 올해 이 사업의 마스터플랜 수립을 시작으로 오는 2025년 12월까지 완공해 마을 정주(定住) 환경을 개선할 예정이다.

또한, 크게 5개 분야로 추진되며 마을주민들의 참여를 통해 마을의 활력 창출 및 주민 삶의 질 향상을 위해  마을안전 확보, 생활·위생인프라 확충, 주택정비, 휴먼케어, 주민역량강화 사업으로 나누어 시행한다.  

한편, 고산동 빼벌마을은 지난 3월 대통령직속 국가균형발전위원회에서 주관하는 ‘2022년 도시취약지역 생활여건 개조사업(이하 새뜰마을사업)’공모에 선정됐다.

김동근 의정부시장은 “현재 빼벌마을이 상수도 등 기본적인 생활 인프라가 미비하고, 노후 주택 등이 밀집된 열악한 환경에 대해 우려하며, 생활 인프라 및 주민 이용 시설 등을 확충할 수 있는 새뜰마을사업이 원활히 진행될 수 있도록 마을주민들과 지속적인 소통이 중요하다”고 강조했다.
