[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 6월 30일 동두천시는 동두천시 기독교연합회 임원진과 간담회를 개최하여 지역의 현안사항과 코로나19 예방을 위한 방역대책 등을 설명하고 기독교계의 의견을 청취했다고 밝혔다. 

이 자리에는 구제상 동두천시 기독교연합회장을 비롯해 손덕환 부회장, 최규선 부회장 등 11명이 참석했다고 했다.

최용덕 동두천시장은 “지속되는 사회적 거리두기 연장으로 인해 종교 활동에 힘드신 점이 많으시겠지만 기꺼이 희생하며 방역에 협조해 주신 덕분에 관내 종교시설 관련 확진자가 발생하지 않았다”며 감사의 뜻을 전했다. 

이어 “코로나19 예방을 위한 방역 노고에 진심으로 감사드리며, 앞으로도 동두천시의 발전과 코로나19 종식을 위해 적극 협조하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 동두천시는 지난 2월 코로나19 위기 극복을 위해 종교시설에 재난특별지원금을 지급하여 침체된 종교계에 활력을 불어넣고 지역경제 활성화에 기여했으며, 또한 지난해 3월부터는 코로나19 관련 점검반을 편성해 매주 종교시설의 방역수칙 준수여부를 점검하고 있다고 했다.
