[김현우 기자 = 강릉시] 강릉시는 지역화폐인 강릉페이 할인율(캐시백)을 오는 11월 1일부터 10%에서 6%로 변경 운영한다고 밝혔다. 

올해 국비 지원 규모가 대폭 축소되고 국비 예산이 조기 소진되어 강릉페이의 지속적인 발행을 위해 시 자체 예산 운영에 따른 것으로, 캐시백이 지급되는 월 결제 금액 한도 30만 원에는 변함이 없으나,캐시백 지급액은 종전 월 최고 3만 원에서 1만 8천 원으로 변경된다.

올해 투입되는 예산은 국비 43.6억을 포함해 총 133억 원으로 10월 23일 기준 충전액은 1,518억, 사용액은 1,513억, 캐시백 지급은 106억 원으로 매년 꾸준히 증가하고 있다.

강릉페이는 지역 자금의 역외 유출을 방지하고 자영업자와 소상공인을 살리기 위해 2020년 1월부터 발행된 지역사랑상품권으로, 침체된 지역 경기에 활기를 불어넣고 지역 경제를 살리는 마중물 역할을 톡톡히 하는 것으로 평가되고 있다.

강릉시 관계자는 “내년에는 강릉페이에 모바일 결제, 교통 카드 기능 등 다양한 신규서비스를 도입하여 이용자들이 더 편리하게 사용할 수 있도록 하고, 가맹점과 가입회원을 확대하여 소비촉진을 통한 지역경제 활성화에 노력하겠다”라고 말했다.
