[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 18일 11시 태백시와 한국중고배구연맹은 시청소회의실에서 ‘태백산배 전국중고남여배구대회’ 를 올해부터 오는 2031년까지 10년간 개최키로 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 

협약식에는 류태호 태백시장, 김홍 한국중·고배구연맹회장, 류철호 태백시체육회장 등을 비롯한 관계자들이 참석했으며, ‘태백산배 전국중고남녀배구대회’는 지난 2009년부터 올해까지 14년 연속 개최되어 오던 대회로 이번 협약으로 향후 10년간 연인원 1만 여명의 중고배구대회 선수단 및 관계자들이 방문할 것으로 기대되는 등 태백시가 한국중고배구대회 최적의 개최지임을 다시 한 번 입증했다고 했다.  

태백시 관계자는 “코로나로 인해 지역 경제가 많이 침체 되어 있는 가운데 향후 10년간 안정적인 대회개최로 지역 상경기가 다시 활력을 찾길 기대하며 또한 경기장 및 부대시설에 대한 지속적인 관리와 정비를 통해 최적의 대회 환경을 제공하겠다”고 말했다. 

한편, 올해 태백산배 전국남여중고배구대회는 지난 3월 16일부터 4월 1일까지 7일간 연인원 1만여명의 선수단 및 관계자가 방문하여 약 10억 원의 경제효과가 발생했다고 전했다.
