[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 의정부시는 주소체계 고도화의 일환으로 시민생활과 밀접한 버스정류장, 어린이공원 등 6종 553개소 다중이용시설에 사물주소판을 설치했다고 밝혔다.

사물주소는 도로명과 기초번호를 활용해 기존 건물에만 사용하던 ‘주소’개념을 시설물에 적용한 것으로 버스 및 택시정류장, 옥외시설에 설치된 승강기, 옥외 대피 시설 등이 해당 시설물에 속한다고 했다.

그간 시민들이 많이 찾는 곳이지만 건물이 아닌 다중 이용 시설물에 주소가 부여되지 않아서 도로나 각종 시설물 근처에서 사고가 일어났을 때 신속한 대처가 어렵다는 문제가 지속적으로 제기됐으며, 이에 지난 7월부터 의정부시는 관내 전 지역의 해당 시설물에 사물주소를 부여해 오는 11월 말 553개소에 사물주소판 설치를 완료했다고 전했다.

의정부시는 사물주소판을 설치해 위급상황 발생 시 소방서와 경찰서 등에 현재 위치를 정확히 알리고 신속한 대처가 가능할 것으로 기대하고 있으며, 또한 추후 주요 포털 사이트와 내비게이션 등에도 반영돼 활용도가 높아지고 모바일 시대에 위치를 기반으로 한 다양한 서비스 이용에도 편리함을 더해줄 예정이라고 했다.

이종열 토지정보과장은 “사물주소 부여를 통해 정확한 위치 식별로 위급상황 대처뿐 아니라 일상의 편리함을 높여줄 것이다”며  “앞으로 사물주소 부여 대상을 확대해 시민 생활 편의와 안전도를 높여 나가겠다”고 말했다.
