[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 11월 18일 11시 경기도의회 교육기획위원회 위원장 정윤경 의원은 경기도의회 제1정담회실에서 행정안전부가 후원하고 (사)통일교육개발연구원 주최로 학생 평화통일 교육 발전을 위한 경기지역 간담회에 토론자로 참석했다고 밝혔다.

오늘 간담회는 박정 국회의원, 정윤경도의원, 김안제 서울대 명예교수, 박현서 통일교육협의회 상임의장, 박병건 통일교육개발연구원장이 참석하여, 관내 지역청소년 통일교육의 실태를 파악하고, 앞으로의 방향을 제시하기 위해 한자리에 모였다고 했다. 

박정 국회의원은 “통일교육연구원에서 조사한 2021년 통일의식조사결과에서 밀레니얼세대의 평화공존선호는 71.4%인 반면 통일선호는 12.4%로, 젊은 세대일수록 북한을 통일의 대상이 아닌 공존의 대상으로 보는 추세가 더욱 강화될 것으로 예측된다”고 밝히며, “지금까지 통일교육이 당위성, 민족동질성, 이산가족의 문제로 접근했다면, 이제는 경제적 이익과 개인의 이익문제로 접근하여, 통일은 민족차원의 문제를 넘어 새로운 경제비전을 만들 수 있는 모멘텀이라는 인식을 젊은 세대에게 심어줄 필요가 있다”고 강조했다. 

정윤경 도의원은 “경기도는 북한과의 접경지역으로 통일교육이 향토교육에 진거하고 있다는 특징이 있으며, 경기도교육청에서는 통일교육과 관련해 학생들의 교육과정과 연계해 교육을 실시하는 방향으로 진행하고 있다”고 밝히며, 2016년 전국 최초 ‘평화시대를 여는 통일시민’ 교과서를 개발했고, 이듬해 보급하여 창의적체험활동 및 학교동아리 운영시 활용하도록 권고하고 있다”고 덧붙였다. 

박현석 통일교육협의회 상임의장은 “학생들에게 통일에 대한 부정적인 시각을 극복하도록 ‘통일이 되면 뭐가 좋을까’와 같은 다양하고 객관적인 자료들을 통해 통일이 주는 유익함을 공감할 수 있도록 해야 한다”고 언급하며 “초․중․고 수준별 학생들 눈높이와 정서에 맞는 통일교육 콘텐츠 개발이 시급하다”고 강조했다.

이어 정 의원은 “과거의 엄격하고 딱딱한 교과 중심 교육에서 탈피한 통일교육 관련 학자, 교사, 활동가, 전문가 등을 비롯한 국제기구 등이 결합된 제4차 산업혁명시대 융복합 통일교육이 필요하다”고 강조하며, 통일교육이 박제화된 교과에 머물지 않고, 우리 현실 속에서 이루어질 수 있도록 교육기획위원장으로서 잘 살펴보겠다며 간담회를 마무리했다.
