[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원강수 원주시장은 지난 4일, 취임 첫 민생행보로 고속버스터미널 정류소 예정지를 방문했다고 밝혔다.

3월 초 ㈜동부고속에서 고속버스터미널 부지매각 사실을 통보함에 따라, 원주시는 고속버스 운행중단에 따른 시민 피해를 최소화하고자 다각도로 대안을 검토해왔다고 했다.

현재 터미널 부지 소유자는 터미널 운영 의사가 없고, ㈜동부고속에 터미널 시설물을 비워줄 것을 종용하고 있는 상황이며, 이에, 원주시는 고속버스 운행을 유지하기 위해 정류소 설치를 계획하게 됐다고 했다.

㈜동부고속에서는 약 150㎡의 건물을 임차해, 매표 및 편의시설을 마련 중에 있으며, 시는 현재의 고속버스 터미널과 가깝고 시외버스터미널과 연계가 용이한 장소를 정류소로 검토하고 있다고 전했다.

원강수 시장은“고속버스터미널 시설물을 폐쇄함으로써 고속버스 운행이 중단되는 사태에 대비하여 이용객이 안전하고 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 고속버스 승강장 신설에 주력하겠다”며, “향후 고속버스 승·하차 위치가 확보되면 이용하는데 혼란이 없도록 언론 및 시 홈페이지 등을 통해 충분히 홍보하겠다.”고 말했다.
