[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 속초시가 미시령 톨게이트에서 시로 진입하는 간선도로인 미시령로에 야간 도로이용자의 안전을 위해 235백만 원을 들여 도로조명시설을 설치한다고 전했다.

해당 구간은 인접 시·군에서 속초로 진입하는 관문도로임에도 도로조명시설이 전무하여 야간 차량통행 불편과 갑작스러운 야생동물 출현 등으로 항시 사고 위험이 내재되어 있었으며 이번 사업은 미시령 방면 속초시 경계에서 동해고속도로 속초 IC 구간을 제외한 콩꽃마을 교차로까지 도로 양방향으로 가로등 총 44본을 설치하는 사업으로 금년 상반기 내 사업을 완료하여 여름 성수기부터는 본격적으로 점등할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

속초시 관계자는 “시 관문도로 가로등 설치로 야간에도 밝고 안전한 속초시를 구현하여 관광도시 이미지 제고는 물론 시민과 관광객들의 안전을 확보하는데 지속적으로 노력하겠다.”라고 말했다.
