영상정보관리사는 CCTV 등 영상정보처리기기 수집 영상정보를 관리·보호하고 지능형 영상정보관제시스템을 모니터링·운용할 수 있는 관제능력을 검증하는 자격으로, 공공·민간영역에서 CCTV 등의 관제 및 관리 업무를 수행하는데 필요한 지식과 기술 검정을 통해 자격 취득 시 지자체 통합관제센터, 민간경비전문업체, 도로교통 및 지하철 역사 관제 등 다양한 분야에서 전문가로 활동할 수 있으며, 특히 빅데이터 분석, IoT 사물인터넷 활성, 인공지능 서비스 발달, 드론 등 다양한 신기술 도입으로 CCTV 관제 전문인력의 수요가 증가하고 있어 전국 CCTV 통합관제센터에서 주목받는 자격이 될 것으로 보인다고 했다.
