[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 의정부시청소년재단은 청소년들이 올바른 역사 인식을 가진 미래 인재가 되도록 다양한 활동을 펼치고 있다고 밝혔다.

6월 호국보훈의 달을 맞아 의정부시 청소년들은 나라를 위해 희생한 영웅들을 기리고 감사의 마음을 전하기 위해  UN참전용사 공헌 캠페인, 현충시설 견학, 현충시설 홍보영상 제작 등의 다양한 보훈활동을 진행했다고 했다. 

의정부시청소년수련관 ‘UN제나 기억하겠습니다’ 청소년 역사기획단은 보훈에 대한 청소년의 인식이 낮은 점에 착안, 청소년들이 올바른 국가관을 세울 수 있도록 올 한 해 다양한 프로그램을 기획해 운영하고 있다고 전했다. 

지난 5월 10명의 UN참전용사 후손들과 함께 현충시설을 견학했고, 6월에는 캠페인 활동을 펼쳤으며, 특히 ‘관심이 있어야 변화도 일어난다.’는 신념 아래 6월 21일부터 27일까지 진행된 온라인 댓글달기 캠페인에서는 1,500명의 관심과 조회를 이끌었고, 110개 이상의 온라인 댓글 달기가 이어졌다고 했다.

캠페인에 참여한 터키 참전용사의 손녀인 Sude Kaya Surenoglu는 “UN참전용사들을 기억해주어 기쁘다. 고구려 시대부터 이어진 터키와 한국의 유대감을 한 번 더 느낄 수 있었다”며 감사를 전했다.    

더불어 청소년수련관은 12명의 청소년과 함께 지난 6월 26일 호국보훈의 달과 6.25전쟁을 기리는 마음을 담아 ‘Hi Story 안녕 역사 캠페인’을 진행했다고 전했다. 

참여한 청소년들은 6.25전쟁의 영웅들과 그분들의 업적을 기리기 위해 카드뉴스를 제작했고, 6.25 전쟁영웅 중 한 분을 선정하여 편지를 쓴 후 자신의 SNS에 활동사진을 업로드 함으로써 영웅들의 숭고한 희생정신을 되새겼다고 했다. 

의정부시새말청소년문화의집은 청소년들이 역사적 장소를 탐방하며 청소년들의 시각에서 제작한 사진과 영상물을 가지고 현충시설을 홍보하고자 ‘역사 속 장소를 찾아서’를 운영한다고 밝혔다. 

6.25전쟁과 3.1운동, 애국계몽운동 등과 관련한 역사적 장소를 탐방할 계획이며, 연말에는 유튜브를 통해 홍보 영상을 게재할 예정이고, 이를 위해 지난 6월 26일 22명의 청소년들은 파주 임진각 일대를 찾아 자유의 다리, 평화의 발, 임진강지구 전적비 등을 탐방했다고 했다.  

의정부시청소년재단 이한범 대표이사는 “‘역사를 잊은 민족에게 미래는 없다.’라 말한 단재 신채호 선생의 말처럼 청소년들이 현재를 있게 한 순국선열과 호국영령의 희생을 기억하고 멋진 미래를 만들어가도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다.”고 말했다.
