또한, 경제자족 도시를 실현하기 위해 약 44만㎡ 규모의 첨단지식산업용지와 첨단제조산업용지에 대한 개발계획을 수립중이며, 해당 용지에 반도체 소・부・장(소재, 부품, 장비) 산업과 기존 테헤란로와 판교 테크노밸리에 위치한 신성장 고부가가치 기업을 적극 유치하여 3기 신도시의 대표도시로 자리매김한다는 계획이라고 했다.

이로 인한 고용창출 효과는 약 1.5만명 이상에 이를 것으로 예상되며, 여건이 유사한 46만㎡ 규모의 판교테크노밸리가 2019년 기준 연매출 107조원을 기록하여 지자체 세수 증대에 기여하고, 6.5만명의 상근 고용을 창출하고 있음을 감안하면 지자체 및 지역사회에 대한 기여가 상당할 것으로 기대하고 있다고 했다.
