[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 2월 11일 오전 11시 원주시와 KT는 원주시청 투자상담실에서 드론 실증도시 구축을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약으로 KT는 원주시의 드론 실증도시 구축사업 추진에 필요한 4G와 5G 상공 통신망 등 ICT 인프라 구축 및 서비스 제공을 위해 원주시와 상호 협력하고 필요한 정보를 공유하기로 했다.

원주시는 지난해 드론특별자유화구역 공모에 선정된 데 이어, 오는 15일 드론 실증도시 선정을 위한 신청서를 국토부에 제출할 계획이라고 전했다.

원주시는“고품질의 드론 전용 통신망 구축은 드론 기업들이 고도화된 기술로 고품질의 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 기반이 되는 만큼, KT와 협력하여 공모사업이 반드시 선정될 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
