[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 1월 26일 강원경찰청과 사단법인 특수한유형의부가통신메세징사업자협회(이하 ‘메세징사업자협회)는 전기통신금융사기 근절을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약을 통해 메세징사업자협회에서 강원경찰청에 택배·보험 등 신종 수법의 문자 정보를 제공하고, 강원경찰청은 신종 수법에 해당하는 범죄의심 문자를 한국인터넷진흥원(KISA)에 요청, 미끼문자를 확정한 후 발송번호를 중지한다고 했다.

강원경찰청은 이미 지난 해 11. 15. 전기통신금융사기 미끼문자 차단을 위해 한국인터넷진흥원(KISA)과 업무협약을 체결한 바가 있어, ’2021년 10월 19일 ~ ’2021년 1월 14일 미끼문자 발송 등 범죄이용 전화번호 15,836개, 계정 4,906개를 중지했다고 전했다.

한국인터넷진흥원에서 전기통신금융사기 범죄의심 문자(스팸) 내역을 강원경찰청에 매일 제공하고, 강원경찰청은 이를 분석, 범죄 미끼문자임을 확정한 후 이용중지 한다고 했다.

전화번호 중지로 인해 문자 수신자는 해당 전화번호로 범죄조직원과 접촉(상담)할 수 없으므로 피해가 즉시 예방된다고 전했다.

메세징사업자협회는 그간 수차례 실무협의를 통해 강원경찰청에 문자 시스템 체계에 대한 기술자문을 함으로써 강원경찰청-한국인터넷진흥원(KISA) 간의 업무협약에 기여한 바가 매우 크다고 했다.

또한, 이번 업무협약으로 신종 수법의 범죄의심 문자를 신속히 발견·차단함으로써 신종 수법 범죄의 확산을 방지할 수 있다고 전했다.

강원경찰청은 메세징사업자협회와 지속적인 협업을 통해 전기통신금융사기 미끼문자 차단에 대한 전문적 시스템과 인력을  구축하여 광역적 컨트롤타워 역할을 수행함으로써 전기통신금융사기 예방에 앞장서겠다고 밝혔다.
