2019년 4월 발대식을 시작으로 올해 4년째 운영 중인 외국인 관광택시는 강릉의 주요 관광지를 저렴한 택시요금으로 둘러볼 수 있는 관광상품으로 현재까지 외국인 관광객 1,200명에게 교통 및 언어편의를 제공하는 등 강릉관광의 필수요소로 자리매김하고 있으며, 외국인 관광택시의 안정적인 운영을 위하여 매년 운전자를 대상으로 외국어 및 서비스 교육을 실시해오고 있다고 했다.

강릉시에는 주문진해변, 강문해변 등 해변을 따라 BTS촬영지를 비롯한 한류 드라마·예능 촬영지가 가득 분포되어 있고 북적이지 않고 코로나로 지친 몸과 마음을 치유할 수 있는 자연 자원이 풍부하다고 했다.
