[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 11월 23일 양주시는 농업기술센터 대강당에서 도시농업 활성화를 위해 추진한 2021년도 ‘상자텃밭 보급사업’ 우수기관 시상식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

상자텃밭 보급사업은 도시농업 활성화를 목적으로 자투리공간을 활용한 텃밭 조성을 통해 성장기 아동들이 직접 신선채소를 재배하고 수확하는 과정에서 식습관 개선을 비롯한 정서함양, 소통능력 향상에 기여하기 위해 마련했고, 올해 사업은 지난해보다 두 배 이상 많은 76개의 어린이집이 참여했으며, 1년간의 활동을 토대로 텃밭일지 작성, 대표자 관심도, 교육적 활용가치, 공동참여도 등을 평가해 6개의 우수기관을 선정했다고 전했다.

최우수상은 사랑숲 어린이집이 수상하였으며 우수상은 덕정따복, 자연사랑 어린이집, 장려상은 행복플러스, 회천, 꿈동이 어린이집이 수상했다고 했다.

이날 시상식에 참여한 어린이집 관계자 A씨는 “코로나19로 야외활동이 어려운 상황 속에서 상자텃밭 가꾸기를 통해 아이들과 친환경 채소를 재배해보며 자연을 느끼는 소중한 시간을 보냈다”며 “평소 편식이 심하던 아이들의 식습관 개선에도 많은 도움이 된 만큼 내년에도 다양한 농업체험 프로그램이 운영되길 기대한다”고 말했다. 

한태수 농업기술센터소장은 “급속한 도시화가 진행되는 와중에 도심 속 자연을 만끽할 수 있는 상자텃밭 보급사업으로 아이들이 채소가 어떻게 만들어지는지 배우는 시간이 됐을 것”이라며 “다양한 생활공간에서 누구나 손쉽게 친환경 작물을 키울 수 있는 상자텃밭 보급에 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
