[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 30일 경기도의회 김경호 의원은 경기도의회 가평상담소에서 실학의 선구자이며 대동법의 명재상 잠곡 김육 선생을 추모하는 전례행사 개최와 관련하여 실학박물관 윤여빈 박사와 정담회를 가졌다고 밝혔다.

이날 윤 박사는 “2021년 잠곡 김육 선생 탄신 441주년을 맞이하는 제2회 추모제향에서 가평군의 대표가 선생의 높은 학덕을 추모하고 자축하여 경세제민(經世濟民)의 정신을 널리 알리고자 준비했다”고 말했다.

잠곡 김육 선생의 대동법은 당시 문제가 심각했던 방납 제도로 인해 민생이 도탄에 빠지자 이를 해결하고자 세금을 특산물 대신 쌀로 납부케 하는 제도로서 토지의 다과에 따라 세금을 낼 수 있도록 하여 민생을 안정시키고 국가의 재정을 확보했다고 했다.

백성을 위한 대동법의 정착으로 농민 부담이 줄어들었고 반대로 상품 화폐 경제가 발달해 공인 등 상인이 성장하고 유통 경제도 발전하며 지방 장시도 활성화되는 계기를 맞았다고 했다.

이에 김 의원은 “가평에는 잠곡 서원뿐만 아니라 인근의 미원서원 등 오랜 역사의 고난 속에서 위기를 극복한 위인을 기리는 역사적 유물이 많이 있으나 전부 소실되어 있어 안타깝다”고 말했다.
